Colonels keep AAA top spot in PFN poll

Two of the Pennsylvania Football News’ top-ranked teams, which both played in the Erie area last Friday, remained atop their respective classes in Monday’s polls.

Gateway, which received a serious scare from McDowell at Gus Anderson Field, was first in PFN’s Class AAAA poll. The 7-0 Gators didn’t secure their 30-18 win over the Trojans until the final two minutes of the fourth quarter.

Strong Vincent, playing at the same time at Veterans Stadium, routed Bradford 62-0. The 7-0 Colonels held the top spot in Class AAA.

District 10 maintained representation in Class AA and Class A.

Wilmington (7-0) moved up to eighth in the AA ranks thanks to its 50-0 final over Reynolds. Saegertown (7-0) was still 10th in A after a wild 41-35 overtime at Linesville.
