Kaylin Akerly scored three goals to lead Mercyhurst Prep to a 6-0 Region 4 win over Strong Vincent at Veterans Stadium on Monday.
The Lakers are one win away from clinching at least a share of the region championship, and a playoff spot.
District 10 held a coin flip between Mercyhurst Prep and McDowell to determine who would get the region automatic seed and a bye in the first round of the teams finished the season tied. The Lakers won and need to win at Bradford on Friday to clinch the spot.
McDowell will more than likely be an at-large team in the Class AAA bracket, but could be forced to play an extra game.
In Class AA, Harbor Creek defended Paul J. Weitz Stadium with a 2-0 win over Villa Maria on Monday.
The win knocks the Victors out of contention for the region title, and sets up Wednesday's match between Harbor Creek and Fairview.
The loss could put Villa in jeopardy of a playoff spot, as only two teams are awarded at-large bids in the Class AA playoffs.
