It's a busy week of playoff action for District 10

As District 10 football concludes its regular season this week, several other sports are in the heat of the postseason. Read about each sport -- both previews and event coverage -- on GoErie.com/Varsity and in the Erie Times-News.

In cross country, Harbor Creek star Lauren Zarger focuses on closing her career with a PIAA title as North East celebrates the 20th anniversary of Roberta Raszkowski's back-to-back state titles. Zarger won her fourth District 10 title, while the North East boys claimed a D-10 title last weekend.

District 10 soccer action resumes today with Cathedral Prep and McDowell playing for the boys Class AAA title and Fairview and Harbor Creek playing for the girls Class AA title. We'll have coverage of both games tonight on the Varsity blog and Friday in the Times-News. In Class A boys action, Fairview and Mercyhurst Prep also advanced this week.

The District 10 girls volleyball tournament opened Tuesday with McDowell winning the Class AAA title. The tournament resumes today and continues through Saturday with Class A and Class AA action.

In girls tennis, Mercyhurst Prep's Rebecca Haener leads state qualifiers from D-10 with her fourth trip to PIAA tournament as a doubles player. She was a 2006 PIAA Class AA doubles champion and a 2007 runner-up with Griffin Currie. This year, Haener teams up with Nikki Winkler. Check out the PIAA Tennis Finals video preview.

The McDowell girls water polo team also heads to states in the hopes of winning its first state title in four seasons.
