Sportsmanship cited at six D-10 schools

Six District 10 schools officially received PIAA sportsmanship awards for the 2007-08 academic year. Cambridge Springs, Fairview, General McLane, Lakeview, Mercer and Warren were the schools honored during Wednesday’s general membership meeting of the district’s athletic directors.

The meeting was held at Titusville Junior High School.

Accepting the sportsmanship awards for those schools were Ken Walker (General McLane), Jeff White (Warren), Michael Piddington (Mercer), Clint Rauscher (Cambridge Springs), Frank Shugarts (Lakeview) and Jerry Lightner (Fairview).

The meeting also reaffirmed an August decision which granted District 10 a fourth Northwest Region qualifier for Class AAA wrestling. That change is effective for the 2008-09 season.

The district’s ADs will reconvene in Titusville on Feb. 16, 2009.
