District 10 won’t determine its Class AAA and Class AA girls singles champions until Monday. But at least they already know their opponents for the first round of the PIAA tennis tournament.

The D-10 AAA champ will draw District 6 representative Kirsten Messner, an Altoona senior, at the Hershey Racquet Club on Oct. 31. State College’s Corinne Jones beat Messner 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 in the district final last weekend, but Jones withdrew from states in order to concentrate on a USTA tournament held at the same time.

The D-10 AA titlist will open against the second seed from District 7. That player is Vincentian Academy junior Elise Held, who lost to California, Pa., freshman Sarah Shashura 7-6 (7-0), 6-4 in the WPIAL final Sept. 26.

Monday’s championship matches will start at 3:30 p.m. at the Pennbriar Athletic Club.
