Our first update of the day:
Cross country

Harbor Creek standout Lauren Zarger has finished fifth this morning in the Class AA race at the PIAA cross country championships in Hershey. Zarger, a four-time District 10 champion, was seeking her first PIAA title after finishing second as a freshman, third as a sophomore and fourth as a junior. She ran third for much of the race today before fading two spots down the stretch on a warm day in Hershey.

In the same race, North East freshman Katie Perkins finished seventh. She was the District 10 runner-up and appears to be the runner to beat in D-10 Class AA going into next season.

The North East boys came up short in their bid for back-to-back state titles. The Grapepickers finished third as a team in the Class AA race.
