Rain expected to reign over D-10 football games

The full force of Erie County's recent snowstorm could be seen at Gus Anderson Field and Veterans Stadium on Tuesday.

Both fields had to be significantly cleared in order to allow the McDowell, Strong Vincent and Cathedral Prep football teams to practice for their upcoming playoff games. The sidelines at both sites appeared to have piles of snow at least a foot high.

Given the weekend forecast, that could make for extremely wet conditions during both games. The National Weather Services calls for temperatures between the mid-40s and mid-50s, but with heavy rain predicted each night.

Prep (7-4) and Vincent (11-0) will play for the District 10 Class AAA title Friday at the Vet. McDowell (7-3) makes its 2008 postseason debut against DuBois (5-5) on Saturday at Edinboro's Sox Harrison Stadium.

Kickoffs are scheduled for 7 p.m.
