The District 10 football committee won't pick its brackets until Sunday, but it's time speculate about what the district officials might do with the playoff pairings. (One playoff team and several seeds still will be determined today.) Here's our best shot at picking the matchups.
Projected brackets
Class AAA
Cathedral Prep (6-4, at-large) at Grove City (7-2, Region 5 champion)
Meadville (6-4, at-large) at Strong Vincent (10-0, Region 6 champion)
Note: This bracket is almost a certainty. D-10 won't match up two champions (Strong Vincent and Grove City), and it won't match up two teams from the same region (Vincent and Prep).
Class AA
Girard (7-3, at-large) at Wilmington (9-1, Region 3 champion)
Greenville-Slippery Rock winner at General McLane (8-2, at-large)
Greenville-Slippery Rock loser at North East (9-1, Region 4 champion)
Fairview (7-2, at-large) at Sharon (9-1, at-large)
Note: This one is pretty close to set, except for the Greenville-Slippery Rock seedings.
Class A
If Saegertown and Eisenhower win today
Eisenhower at Mercer
Union City at Farrell
Linesville at Cambridge Springs
Sharpsville at Saegertown
If Cambridge Springs and Eisenhower win today
Eisenhower at Mercer
Union City at Farrell
Linesville at Saegertown
Sharpsville at Cambridge Springs
If Iroquois wins today and Iroquois gets in
Union City at Mercer
Iroquois at Farrell
Linesville at Cambridge Springs
Sharpsville at Saegertown
If Iroquois wins today and Mercyhurst Prep gets in
Mercyhurst Prep at Mercer
Union City at Farrell
Linesville at Cambridge Springs
Sharpsville at Saegertown
Note: Obviously, a lot is still up in the air in Class A.
Repeats, anyone? Two of the three defending District 10 champions lost Friday.
Class A champion Mercyhurst Prep lost to Union City and finished 5-5. The Lakers could still make the playoffs.
Class AA champion Wilmington dropped to 9-1 with a 22-21 loss to a strong Karns City team. That might give hope to D-10 Class AA teams.
Class AAA champion Strong Vincent pounded Meadville 42-6 to move to 10-0. The Colonels will be big favorites to repeat in AAA.
Class AAAA playoff outlook: Here are the PIAA Class AAAA sub-regional standings through Friday. All six can elect to play if they wish. Allderdice has dropped out already. Altoona might. McDowell, which plays Bishop McDevitt today in its regular-season finale, will play in the sub-regional.
1. State College 10-0
2. McDowell 6-3
3. Central Mountain 6-4
4. DuBois 5-5
5. Altoona 3-6
6. Allderdice 0-9
This is how the sub-regional could break down: (Again, this is speculation.)
Three weeks to play
First week
DuBois vs Altoona, rest have byes
Second week
DuBois-Altoona winner vs. State College, McDowell vs. Central Mountain
Third week
winners play
If Altoona does NOT stay in the playoffs

Third week

Friday recap:
We'll start the regular part of this week's Saturday Morning Quarterback in a place where we've started many of the blogs this season -- with Strong Vincent.
The Colonels capped a fantastic, 10-0 regular season Friday with a 42-6 victory over Meadville. Vincent will head into the postseason as the No. 1 team in the state in Class AAA in the Pennsylvania Football News poll and the No. 2 team in the Harrisburg Patriot-News poll.
Many people are anticipating a Vincent rematch with defending state champion Thomas Jefferson later in the PIAA playoffs, but the Colonels have work to do before then. They likely will face Meadville in the first round of the playoffs. If Vincent beats Meadville, it would face the winner of the Cathedral Prep-Grove City game for the D-10 title.
-- Darrell Brooks did it again for the Colonels on Friday. The senior running back just seems to get better every week. This time he ran 17 times for 112 yards and four touchdowns and added a 17-yard TD reception.
That moved Brooks' season totals to 1,141 yards on 86 carries, with 18 rushing touchdowns. As we've already stated, what's most remarkable about Brooks' totals is that he's averaging only 8.6 carries per game. He entered Friday's game averaging a whopping 14.9 yards per carry.
Our only regret is that we didn't see Brooks get a typical amount of carries this season. For instance, District 10's leading rusher going into the weekend, West Middlesex running back Kyle Allen, had rushed 163 times for 1,300 yards. At Brooks' pace, if he had 163 carries, he would have 2,163 yards.
-- Vincent also took some time Friday to work on its passing game. The Colonels usually focus on the ground game, but D.J. Barney and Deonte Flemings combined to pass for 153 yards vs. Meadville. Barney completed 6-of-11 passes for 106 yards and a TD. Flemings completed both of his pass attempts for 46 yards.
-- Speaking of passing games, Cathedral Prep's Shyquawn Pullium showed his arm Friday, completing 6-of-11 passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns in a 50-0 victory over Central Tech. That included a 92-yard TD pass to Erick Green, who also had a 29-yard TD reception and a 59-yard kick return for a score.
-- Last season Grove City was a Class AA playoff team and Cathedral Prep was the Class AAAA champion. A year later, the the teams are poised to play in the first round of the D-10 Class AAA playoffs -- and Grove City will be the higher seed.
The Eagles (7-2) were the Region 5 champions, while the Ramblers were the Region 6 runners-up. Grove City had a bye in Week 10, and we're sure the coaching staff was at Veterans Stadium on Friday to take a good luck at Prep.
-- When you talk about passing games in District 10, the place to start is Corry. Scottie Frisina completed a tremendous season Friday when he led the Beavers to a 28-27 comeback win over Bradford. Frisina completed 15-of-24 passes for 269 yards and three touchdowns.
Most of Frisina's yards came in the fourth quarter when he completed a 91-yard TD pass to Jordan Mosher and later drove the Beavers to a winning TD. The Beavers capped the win with less than a minute to play when Frisina hit Cory Owens for a 16-yard TD pass and then connected with Mosher on a two-point conversion.
Frisina finished the season with District 10-high totals of 2,010 yards and 25 TDs. There are no official D-10 record books, but surely that ranks as one of the greatest passing seasons in D-10 history.
The scary thing is that Frisina is just a junior. His return will make Corry (6-4) a favorite in Region 5 next season. Can he get even better?
-- Kyle Allen of West Middlesex took a big step toward the District 10 regular-season rushing title Friday when he rushed for 232 yards on 15 carries on a 54-18 win over Conneaut Valley. Allen rushed for six touchdowns, capping his night with a 60-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
He finished with 1,532 yards this season because the Big Red will not advance to the playoffs.
McDowell's A.J. Fenton is the only player who can catch Allen. Fenton enters today's 2 p.m. game at Bishop McDevitt with 1,271 yards. He'll need 261 yards against a bruising McDevitt defense to catch Allen.
Look for our Saturday Morning Quarterback update on Sunday. And join us later today with live updates from three D-10 soccer title games and several big football games. ...
