The rematch that Erie football fans anticipated will come true Friday.
Strong Vincent (11-0) and Cathedral Prep (7-4) will kick off at 7 p.m. at Veterans Stadium for the District 10 Class AAA title. The state-ranked Colonels beat the Ramblers 40-14 on Sept. 19 en route to the Region 6 championship.
Vincent beat Meadville 35-14 in its district semifinal, while Prep eliminated Region 5 winner Grove City 45-21.
The district's Class A semifinals are also scheduled Friday at 7. Region 1 champ Mercer (10-1) will face Linesville (9-2) at Wilmington High School, while Region 2 titlist Saegertown (11-0) draws Farrell (9-2) in what could be a high-scoring clash at Allegheny College's Fuhrer Field.
The Class AA semifinals are scheduled for Saturday at 7. At-large contender General McLane (9-2) and Region 3 winner Wilmington (10-1) meet in an anticipated match-up at Allegheny.
Sharon (10-1) and Slippery Rock (8-3) will play in the other semi at Slippery Rock's N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
Also on Saturday at 7, the McDowell Trojans (7-3) make their postseason debut in Class AAAA. The Trojans will play District 9 entry DuBois (5-5) in a PIAA subregion semifinal at Edinboro University's Sox Harrison Stadium.
The winner of that game will play either State College (10-0) or Central Mountain (6-4).
