Colonels second in PFN poll despite semifinal outcome

The Strong Vincent football team came up short in its bid to reach the 2008 PIAA Class AAA championship game.

Thomas Jefferson beat the Colonels 35-21 in the semifinals. The Jaguars followed with their third state title in five years thanks to a 34-7 rout of Archbishop Wood at Hershey.

Pennsylvania Football News voters were unmoved. They still felt Vincent was a better team than Wood in its final AAA poll.

Thomas Jefferson was deservedly first at 15-1. However, the 13-1 Colonels were second and the 12-3 Vikings third.

Wilmington ended first in the Class AA poll. The 15-1 Greyhounds required overtime in three of their final four playoff games to claim the team's first state title.

Farrell was the only other District 10 team that warranted a final top 10 rank in the PFN polls. The 12-3 Steelers were were fourth in Class A.
