Girard/Villa Maria showdown moved back a day

Fans will have to wait one more day for the first of at least two showdowns between the Girard and Villa Maria girls basketball teams. The two will play a Region 4 game on Dec. 11 at Penn State Behrend's Junker Center at 7:30 p.m.

The Victors are the No. 1 team in Class AA in District 10, while the YellowJackets are No. 2. In the Harrisburg Patriot News preseason poll, Villa is No. 2 in the state and Girard is No. 9.

Villa is led by Notre Dame-bound Kayla McBride, while the 'Jackets are led by 1,000-point scorer Raegan Moore.

The two teams will play at Girard on Jan. 15, and possibly a third and fourth time in the District 10 and PIAA playoffs.
