Wilmington returns to Hershey

The Wilmington Greyhounds will look to win their first PIAA football championship on Saturday at Hersheypark Stadium at 1 p.m.

The Greyhounds (14-1) will make their first appearance since representing District 7 in the state championship in 1988. Wilmington lost to Bethlehem Catholic 26-11 at Altoona's Mansion Park.

This year's 'Hounds squad survived an overtime thriller with District 7 champion Aliquippa 29-28 in the semifinals, and will take on District 12 champion West Catholic. West Catholic beat Lancaster Catholic 37-14 in the semifinals.

In other football news, Kennedy Catholic hired a new football coach after Joe Kenneally resigned today.
Farrell native Tim Scarvel will take over as head coach after serving as defensive coordinator the past two seasons under Kenneally.
Scarvel has also coached at Farrell and Reynolds, and is a guidance counselor for the Reynolds School District.
