Grove City gives North East mat tourney 19 teams

A crowded field for the 29th annual North East Invitational was further compacted by the addition of Grove City. Athletic director Bill Jordan confirmed in a Tuesday release that the Eagles' wrestling team will travel north for the Jan. 23-24 tournament.

Grove City's addition means Erie County's biggest meet will consist of 19 teams. Other District 10 schools expected to participate are Conneaut Lake, Corry, Eisenhower, Fairview, Fort LeBoeuf, Harbor Creek, Iroquois, Saegertown, Seneca, Sharon, Sharpsville and West Middlesex.

North East is one of four district tournaments that will run every weekend the remainder of this month. The 31st annual Tool City Tournament at Meadville kicks off the schedule this Friday and Saturday.
