Harbor Creek's decision to enter this weekend's Corry Duals means the 27th annual Saegertown Panther Wrestling Tournament will have a new team champion. The Huskies totaled 224 points en route to the 2008 title, which included six individual finalists and three winners.
Harbor Creek coach Derek Chew, who took over for Mark Sallot this season, opted to enter the Class AA squad at Corry, composed primarily of District 10's Class AAA schools. The Huskies will be one of 14 teams in the Beavers' gymnasiums.
Friday's duals start at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Other District 10 teams bound for Corry will be Cathedral Prep, Franklin, Titusville, McDowell, Strong Vincent, Warren, General McLane, Central Tech, Meadville and Conneaut Lake.
Host Saegertown will try to take advantage of Harbor Creek's void at its tournament, which starts Friday at 4:15 p.m. Saturday's action begins at 10:30 a.m., with the parade of champions at 4:45 p.m.
The Panthers boast a returning tournament winner in sophomore Adam Armstrong, who won the 130-pound division last year. Armstrong also was a titlist at the 2008 Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Tournament, held in Erie.
