Four local, state-ranked teams will play each other a third time this season in a District 10 championship tripleheader at Gannon's Hammermill Center.
No. 1 Villa Maria (21-3, Region 4 champion) will take on rival No. 5 Girard (21-3, at-large) at 2:30 p.m. The Victors swept the regular season series 2-0.
In Class AAA, No. 4 General McLane (22-1, Region 6 co-champion) will play area-rival No. 7 Mercyhurst Prep (19-5, Region 6 co-champion) at 4 p.m. The two teams split their two regular season games by winning on each other's home courts.
The tripleheader will get started with the Class A championship between Kennedy Catholic (17-5, Region 1 champion) and Eisenhower (14-10, Region 4 automatic) at 1 p.m.
While the six teams at Gannon are guaranteed a PIAA playoff spot, fans in Mercer County will be treated to a tripleheader at Farrell High School with only three of the six teams heading to the state playoffs. The boys Class AA third-place game between Wilmington (15-9, at-large) and Reynolds (22-2, Region 2 champion) at 1 p.m.
The Class AA and AAA girls third-place games will follow at 2:30 and 4 p.m. Greenville (17-7, at-large) and Reynolds (22-2, Region 2 champion) play the second game in the tripleheader, while Slippery Rock (17-7, at-large) and Franklin (19-5, Region 5 champion) play the 4 p.m. game.
