Usually the team that wins each basketball game will have a pivotal quarter to put them over the top. Here is a look at some of the best quarters that girls basketball teams had on Monday night.
1. Franklin's 20-point second quarter - The Knights were trailing 13-8 after the first quarter, but broke out with 20 points to take a 28-24 halftime lead. Franklin went on to beat Sharon 61-54 in a crucial Region 5 game.
2. Kennedy Catholic's big half - The Golden Eagles scored 21 and 23 points in the first and second quarter in a Region 1 game against Commodore Perry. Kennedy won 70-23 and clinched at least a share of Region 1.
3. Villa Maria breaks 20 twice - The Victors scored 21 points in the second quarter after holding just a six-point lead through the first. Villa then score 22 points in the third quarter to secure the win over Northwestern.
4. Mercyhurst Prep scores 23 in two quarters - The Lakers scored 23 points in the second quarter to gain a 41-13 halftime lead. Mercyhurst then scored 23 in the final eight minutes to secure the Region 6 win over Fort LeBoeuf.
5. Lakeview scores 10 in overtime - The Sailors fought off a West Middlesex comeback with a 10-point burst in the four-minute overtime. Lakeview's Mary Koller laid in a basket with 10 seconds left to secure the 71-70 Region 2 win.
