Prep seeks mat payback vs. Cumberland Valley

The Cathedral Prep wrestling team won consecutive District 10 Class AAA team tournament titles for the first time with its 47-24 victory over Meadville on Jan. 27.

Now, the Ramblers will try to equal a feat accomplished in its last two trips to Hershey.

Prep (16-0) will face Cumberland Valley (15-3) in the second round of Friday's PIAA team tournament at the Giant Center. The dual will start at 10 a.m., with the winner bound for the 2 p.m. quarterfinals.

That's a round the Ramblers reached in the 2004 and 2008 tournaments. Last year, Prep edged Penn-Trafford 35-29 in the second round, then lost to Council Rock South 35-20.

That dropped the Ramblers into the consolation bracket, where they were eliminated 48-9. Their opponent?

Cumberland Valley.
