Update No. 6

Cathedral Prep sophomore Logan Thompson continued his run of upsets through the 215-pound bracket. Thompson just pinned General McLane's third-seeded Travis Bryant, reversing a one-point loss to Bryant earlier this season. That puts Thompson into the finals against Meadville's top-seeded Kevin Thompson and, more importantly, sends him to the regional tournament for the first time.

Thompson came into the tournament unseeded at 12-14 but has now beaten the Nos. two and three seeds.

189: Deeter (Fr) p Keys (CP) 2:54; Stonis (GM) d Kerr (Ti) 5-4.
215: Thompson (Me) p Moon (Mc) 2:23; Thompson (CP) p Bryant (GM) 4:49.

Update No. 5

In the consolations at 160 pounds, referee Jerry Nowakowski just sent Meadville's Ray Gonzalez off the mat before the start of his match against Titusville's Jake Burnside because Gonzalez's Mowhawk haircut was spiked too high. Nowakowski also penalized Gonzalez one point for a technical violation.

Here are the semifinal results at 160 and 171:

160: Easter (CP) d Lester (GM) 7-2; Diodati (CL) d Shevitz (Fr) 6-5.
171: Milano (CP) tf Myers (GM) 18-3 (4:48); Pollard (Co) inj. def. over Heagy (Me) 2:00.

Update No. 4

The upsets have taken a break for now, with all four top-two seeds advancing soundly at 145 and 152.

145: Lyons (CP) d Preisler (Co) 9-5; Limano (Me) p DeLattre (Wa) 1:25.
152: Laird (CL) d Woodrow (Me) 8-2; Greenlee (Fr) md Heynoski (CP) 14-6.

Update No. 3

No. 2 seeds are taking a bit of a beating so far this morning. Strong Vincent's Mike Krysiak became the fourth No. 2 seed to lose already, dropping a 7-5 decision to Meadville's Josh Keach. Other two seeds to lose: Conneaut Lake's Aaron Smith at 103, General McLane's Tyler Bowers at 119 and Cathedral Prep's Tyler Parsons at 135.

Prep's Jamal Lyons just advanced to the final with a 9-5 win over Corry's Jesse Priesler at 145.

135: Rendulic (CL) d Baumgartner (GM) 6-1; Towers (Me) d Parsons (CP) 9-4.
140: Kondrlik (Co) p Williams (CL) :47; Keach (Me) d Krysiak (SV) 7-5.

Update No. 2

Here are results from two more weight classes. Warren's Amani Bosko just won a tough semifinal over McDowell's Dylan Matz at 130. Bosko fended off a potential tying takedown attempt by Matz at the buzzer that brought McDowell's coaches to their feet.

125: Spearman (Mc) tf Juracko (CL) 25-10 (5:00); Davis (Me) md Hess (CP) 12-2.
130: Wellek (CP) p Burrows (Me) 3:50; Bosko (Wa) d Matz (Mc) 5-3.

Update No. 1

We're back underway this morning from McDowell Intermediate High School with mid-round semifinal updates. Below are results from the first three weights.

103: Wheeling (GM) md Royek (Co) 17-4; Sallot (CP) p Smith (CL) :26.
112: Mack (Me) md Graham (Fr) 10-2; Gillihan (Co) p Juracko (CL) 3:36.
119: Kerr (Co) p Kenyon (Fr) 2:35; Angello (CP) d Bowers (GM) 3-0.

Prep's Agnello is an interesting story. He missed all of last season, but now he's assured of a trip to the regional tournament after knocking off Bowers, the No. 2 seed.

Sallot, a freshman and the son of Prep coach Mark Sallot, also took out the No. 2 seed in Smith. Mark Sallot gets to be a nervous dad for at least one more week.

Freshman Steve Spearman from McDowell, the top seed at 125, just finished a dominating technical fall over Conneaut Lake's Sam Juracko to clinch his first regional berth.
