Villa Maria girls head for familiar territory

The Villa Maria girls will take on playoff-rival Bishop McCort on Friday at Slippery Rock's Morrow Field House in the PIAA Class AA quarterfinals.
It is the same site as last year's second round game when the Crushers ended the Victors' season 50-45.

Villa (24-3) defeated McCort (24-4) 51-45 on Dec. 6 at Oakland Catholic. The Victors' win came just one night after an emotional win over nationally-ranked Oak Hill Academy 60-49 at the Hammermill Center.

Villa's 6:30 p.m. game will be the middle of a tripleheader at Slippery Rock.

District 10 Class AAA boys champion Farrell (23-4) will follow the Victors at Slippery Rock with an 8 p.m. quarterfinal game against Greensburg Salem. Greensburg Salem (21-5) upset Chartiers Valley in the second round 68-66 with a shot at the buzzer.

Starting the D-10 tripleheader will be District 10 Class A champion Kennedy Catholic (24-2) taking on Sewickley Academy (23-4) at 5 p.m.
