Mile High Night

It sounds cliche to say there are hardly any words to describe it--but putting the atmosphere of last night's acceptance speech down on paper makes my job pretty difficult.

I could feel the passion at Invesco Field as Barack Obama supporters cheered, sang, jumped up from their seats, and waved American Flags. They waited in mile long lines in this "mile high city" to claim their seat at what was one of the most anticipated speeches of any presidential campaign.

Before Obama took the stage the arena felt more like a rock concert. There were performances from Sheryl Crow and Stevie Wonder, then speeches by Former Vice President Al Gore and VP Nominee Joe Biden. Biden really revved up the already enthusiastic crowed before Obama. When he came out there wasn't a grand introduction in a speech....but when he did the flicker of cameras were almost blinding and the cheering of "Yes We Can" almost deafening.

Obama said he'd cut taxes for 95 percent of working class families, end independence on foreign oil--and the war in Iraq.

His speech was confident and he was charismatic as we've seen throughout his campaign. And now a brand new Gallup poll shows Obama is leading McCain by six percentage points.

In the beginning of this convention week I reported that the Democratic party unity was at question...but after witnessing last night's speech I can tell you the party is unified and today will start the Barack Obama/Joe Biden campaign right in our own state of Pennsylvania.
