The Lipstick Factor

Will the fact that Sarah Palin wears lipstick help get Kathy Dahlkemper elected here in the 3rd district?

Right now Phil English and Kathy Dahlkemper are each clawing for a victory. English defending the seat he's held for seven terms and Dahlkemper propelled by the power of big Democratic party backing.

It looks like Steven Porter might not be in the race. But Sarah Palin sure is.

Even though Palin is a Republican and Dahlkemper is a Democrat (a pro-life Democrat by the way) she could sway some votes.

A new Washington Post/ABC News survey finds McCain is now ahead of Obama by 12 points among white women, 53 to 41 percent. Last month Senator Obama held an eight point lead over McCain among white women voters in the same poll. There is a 20 point shift among that group.

And a new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows Obama's lead among women shrinking from 14 points a month ago to just four points now.

When women voters go to the poll to cast their ballot for the McCain/Palin ticket-- they might just hit that button for Dahlkemper too--a candidate wearing lipstick.
