Porter Could Change the 3rd District Race

The congressional race right here in the third district is one of the most competitive across the nation. And one factor that could totally change the race is still in limbo.

Independent candidate Steven Porter filed an appeal with the Pennsylvania supreme court on a recent judge's ruling that is keeping him off the November ballot.

A Pennsylvania judge declared more than half of the nominating signatures collected by Porter were invalid. If the high court denies his appeal, the lower court ruling stands and Porter will not appear on the general election ballot.

If he's on the ballot, he has the potential to steal votes from Democrat Kathy Dahlkemper--but if he's denied access to the ballot it will make it easier for Dahlkemper to beat 7 term incumbent Congressman Phil English.

Meanwhile Dahlkemper and English are busy sparring over a recent TV ad released by English's campaign.
