Erie Sport & Travel Expo schedule

The Erie Sport & Travel Expo outdoors show gets under way Friday, March 6, at 10 a.m. at the Erie Bayfront Convention Center, 1 Sassafras Pier

the show runs until 9 p.m. Friday; from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 7; and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 8.

Tickets are $7 for adults, and children under 10 are admitted free of charge. $1 off coupons are available.

Erie National Wildlife Refuge poster contest

Stop by the Erie National Wildlife Refuge visitors center in Guys Mills this month to check out the more than 90 entries in the refuge's 50th anniversary poster contest.

All the entries will be on display through the end of March, and the four framed winning entries will get places of honor on the wall.

Winners in each age division received a $25 prize, a certificate of achievement and a blue ribbon. Winners are Vienna Schmucker (K-3), Travis Brubaker (4-6) and Jordan Lehman (7-9) of Guys Mills and Brenna Thummler (10-12) of Meadville.

The refuge has more anniversary events planned, including the third annual Guys Mills Heritage Fest June 27.

Pennsylvania's biggest catches of 2008

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission's list of 2008's biggest catches reads like a who's-who list of northwestern Pennsylvania anglers.
